👶 Toddlers (0-4)

  • Adventure playground with climbing wall, monkey bars, and spinning disc
  • Bike riding on the sealed trail (flat, safe, no cars)

Playground

Modern equipment for ages 2-12. Rubber soft-fall surfacing. Fenced toddler section.

BBQ Shelters (x2)

Free electric hotplates under covered pavilions. First-come, first-served. Clean after use.

Toilets

Accessible toilet block at the main car park. Baby change table available.

Drinking Water

Fountain at the picnic pavilion. Dog bowl attachment underneath. Bring bottles for refill.

Free Parking

All-day free parking at the main car park. Approximately 40 spaces. Fills by 10 am on weekends.

Sealed Paths (Pram/Wheelchair)

Entire 3.2 km loop is sealed asphalt. Flat grade. Suitable for prams, wheelchairs, and mobility scooters.

Cafe / Kiosk

No on-site food or drink. Bring your own or visit Pakenham Central (10 min drive) before or after.

Swimming

The lake is not suitable for swimming. No lifeguard, uneven bottom, and the wetland ecosystem is sensitive. The closest public pool is Cardinia Life Aquatic Centre (15 min drive).

Safety Tips

⚠ Water Safety

  • Supervise children near the water at all times
  • The boardwalk has railings but no barriers at ground level
  • Lake edges can be muddy and slippery after rain
  • No swimming, wading, or paddling in the lake
  • If someone falls in, call 000 — don't enter the water yourself

🌞 Sun & Weather

  • Limited shade on the eastern trail section — hats and sunscreen essential
  • Bring water for everyone (minimum 500 ml per person)
  • In extreme heat (35+), visit before 10 am or after 4 pm
  • The trail can be windy — bring layers in cooler months
  • Check BOM weather radar before heading out in storm season

Indoor aquatic centre with 25m pool, toddler splash zone, and gym. 15-minute drive from the lake. Check Cardinia Shire website for session times and fees.

Pakenham Library

Free entry. Children's reading area, regular storytime sessions (Tues/Thurs), computers, and quiet study spaces. Located in the civic centre on Main Street.

🎲

Inflatable World

Indoor bouncing and obstacle course centre. Great for burning energy on a wet day. Located at the Pakenham industrial estate. Booking recommended on weekends.
